Day verses Night

Sunrise:   1:12
Sunset:  23:00

It is official we made it through our first 24-hour sun season.  While I wasn’t a fan it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be.

I will admit that I would rather 24/7 dusk then 24 hour sunlight and that time will be upon us before we know it.

Time to break out the nightlights!!

Summer has arrived: Just a few photos

IMG_2112

Not 100% sure what the above flower is called, but I love the contrast of the waxy-film on the leaves and the white flowers.

Arctic Poppy

(Correct me if I’m wrong)

I love the coloring on the rocks.

I dodged the mosquitoes to photograph water, I’m definitely from the Maritimes.

20+ days

As my title says I'm approximately 22-21 days away from flying away from this icebox they call Kugaaruk into the land of warmth with sunshine by day and darkness by night! I've been thinking for quite sometime that I shouldn't be counting down to this vacation, especially since as I get closer to V-DAY (vacation day) my sleep schedule is becoming more messed up than usual. (IE: I had a dream the other night I was a orange about to become freshly squeezed OJ)
Although, with the approximation of 20+ days until V-Day comes the second countdown. DISNEY - I'm trying to push that date into the recesses of my mind in order to get at least some sleep. If I realize that Disney is only a little over a month away, I may just not sleep until after we get back...and that may prove to be my downfall. I can be a tad bit cranky without sleep.

Things have been relatively _uiet around here lately, however with the amount of rain we got this past weekend, things were a little hectic for Hughie & Eldon, but nothing they couldn't handle. Rain makes people go a little cuckoo when they can't get outside and enjoy the "summer" weather.

With that leeway, summer...where did it go and will it return or was a week of sunshine and slightly warmer weather was all we get. It has been damp, rainy and cloudy since midweek. I'm hoping for warmer sunny weather. I'm as pasty as ...well paste and I would enjoy at least one or two days of warm weather to toast me up..just a bit... ... or should I bring out my toques, parka and mittens?

Addendum: In my previous post I spoke about airline prices, well luck would have it a seatsale came up in the last couple of days and we saved approximately $900.00!!

Left behind?

I thought I left these behind when I left Manitoba.
Apparently, I was wrong!

Yukai Kanada Dei

Load of wash - Check
Vacuum Floors - Check
Let dogs out - Check
Got dressed - Check
....and all this before 9:30. I have way to much free time on my hands. I would prefer to be sleeping at this very moment but my puppy is a sadistic demon with cute fuzzy ears.

Today is Canada Day. I don't believe Kugaaruk is hosting fireworks that I've grown accustomed too over the last decade although if the talent is any good, I may tune in to the Canada Day festivities on television. At least then I get the fireworks without the bug bites. I wholeheartedly admit I'm not the most patriotic person in this great country of ours but I do know my Canadian History, the National Anthem and I never get the "Who is your Prime Minister" wrong and today I will dig through my clothes and attempt to wear something red even if it is my socks.

I'm very excited to note that my most favorite person in the whole world is back tomorrow (He went shopping for me at LUSH!!). To quote him, I felt like I was somewhere between "Liberation & Loneliness". I'm intrigued to see what our phone bill will be like considering all the collect calls that were made the last 4 days. However I will not complain - they were totally worth it! Even when I don't understand what he is jabbering about, or when he repeats himself a dozen times and therefore so do I...I love my husband.

We officially have our dog run up for our fur-kids and they have been enjoying it to the degree we were hoping they would be. They have their freedom and enough space to sit back and relax and watch the world go by. Chakotay is our nosy husky so he tends to perch high above on the deck to spy on all the dogs and birds he can see. Sekaya is very much happy just to chill out - dig small little holes and carries out all her toys one by one..which I can only assume is for her enjoyment and comfort.
